Alabama vs Georgia - post game

Well Well Well...didn't see that comin'...and neither did those Georgia fans!
I was in awe at the way Alabama played the first half of the game. They were on fire and played to perfection. John Parker, Glen Coffee, Julio Jones (I can only say his name like an announcer over the megaphone), Mark Ingram, Andre Smith (Bud's favorite) and the entire offensive and defensive line did excellent!

Matt (GA fan) was a little down that his team was so undisciplined and therefore put themselves in a vulnerable position. However, kudos to him because he was a good loser.

We went to our friend's (Jim) birthday party and I was able to completely relax the second half (thanks Bama).

Jim got an Airdale (sp?) puppy for his b'day. Oso (dog's name) is so cute.

We had a ping pong tournament and enjoyed the summer like weather.

Alabama vs Georgia - pregame post

ROLL TIDE!

I just want to post a blog to amp up my Alabama fans!
I am very anxious about tonight's game. We need to play to our very best and we need Georgia to make a few mistakes (how about a few interceptions)!

No matter what happens I am proud with our team this year and tonight will be a close game.

GO BAMA! (my friend Lisa painted the picture below)

I'll post tomorrow with the post game emotions.

Grillin' with Matt

Last night we grilled out a Tri Tip that Matt brought over. He has been marinating it for 24 hours in his Mom's special sauce. Chad is maning the grill (Weber charcoil, of course) and he said tonight we are doing an inversion grilling method (you know Chad). Meaning the coals are all lined around the edge with the center open for a smoke circle.

Maya (Matt's dog) is over playing with Sampson and Lucy.
Most importantantly we are THRILLED that USC lost to Oregon St!

Here are some pictures to enjoy...

Herer is a little inspiration for the Fall season...and an update on my Mums

Plants I Love

I want to give a round of applause to two flowers that I love. Mums and Marigolds!

I planted mums in 2 pots by my front door one year ago and they have survived through the snowy winter, hot summer and are thriving still. They never turned brown...in the winter they just stayed green with out blooms. They have tripled in size and I even had to cut them back (the way I cut my barbie's hair when I was young...to the scalp). And now they are exploding and about to bloom with Crimson flowers with gold centers.

I love my Marigolds because they are so reliable. They bloom even when I forget to water them. The bright yellow color is so happy it just makes you smile (hence why smiley faces are yellow)!

Update on my Purple Stuff (don't know the name) that I stole from the entrance to Brook Highland neighborhood and smuggled to Nevada.
First of all...it has survived!
Secondly, it has grown large enough for me to break a limb off and replant in another pot. I am happy about that and can't wait for it to grow like a weed.
If anyone has some plants doing extremely well in your yard please let me know so I can test them out!

Gunnison Family Reunion

We are back from the Gunnison Reunion with Chad's college friends. My few expectations of good coffee, cold temperatures and creating memories with great friends were all achieved. The trip started in Denver where all 6 of us packed into the car and headed to Gunny. We took our time and stopped for lunch, scenic picture opps, wine tasting and souvenier shopping. After all the drive is part of the adventure!

One of my favorite parts of the trip was hanging out in Crested Butte on Friday. We strolled up and down the main street browsing through the cute shops and ending up at the Eldo for refreshments. On Saturday we went off roading and were able to explore some beautiful mountains, lakes, forrests and valleys in the area. We were constantly taking the layers on and off as the temperature would change every few minutes. We even touched our first snow of the season:)

We ended the weekend by grilling out hamburgers and making smores and smoreos (smores in oreos) over the campfire.

We are looking forward to the trip next year!

Western Alumni Weekend...Here we come!

It is time again for our annual Western Colorado University (or some mix of those words) Alumni Weekend. This is a time we go to Gunnison, CO with a group of Chad's friends to celebrate the good ole days of college. We rent a cabin on the river and do it up Colorado style! I especially like it because I go in blind. I have zero expectations...I know we will have good coffee, cold temperatures and a fun friends. In the past, this mindset has proven to result in unexpected bliss.
So, I will be gathering good times, stories and pictures to share with you on Monday.
Till then, ROLL TIDE

So Long Summer

I DECLARE IT FALL today!
I have enjoyed Summer but that time has passed. It is mid September and I am ready for Fall clothes, weather and the changing of leaves. So, starting today I am pretending it is Fall. I just purchased a cute blazer and cardigan and I wore the blazer today with the sleeves rolled up.

I say all this to encourage you to take the next step...wear that lightweight sweater, 3/4 lenght sleeve shirt, blazer, etc. I think you will find that your mindset changes AND those around you will be thrilled that you were the first one to start the trend. I mean...you know when you see someone dressed in the "next" season and you think, oh wow, I can start wearing my stuff too...be THAT person!

I will let you know when I start wearing boots!

Week Update

For my avid blog readers...I haven't been under a rock this week...I have been at WORK!
I started working at PBJ (minus the J) and I am really enjoying it. I get to decorate all day long. I get excited about everything I see and it really gives me my home decorating fix.

Chad has been hanging out on the beaches of Mexico so we haven't had any fun couples spa nights or croquet matches:)

To make it a little more dry...I haven't even eaten anything culinary! Tonight was a box of shells and alfredo sauce (like mac 'n cheese) with a salad consiting of only iceburg lettuce (which I purchased for my hamburgers only) and the last of my dressing. Tomorrow is my grocery day and the pickin's are slim.

I got sucked into watching 4 straight episodes of the Making of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders then and hour of Real-Life Cinderellas. By the way, New Kids on the Block were on the Today show this morning. Did anyone see them? I thought there new song was good. Jordan was my favorite back in 5th grade but I have to say that Joey looked cute.

Oh, and Chad took the camera so I didn't have any spontaneous pictures of frogs.

Blog, Blog, Blog...and that is what I have been up to.
I promise more exciting news to come:)

Roll Tide Roll 1-0

I would like to give a standing ovation to Nick Saban, John Parker Wilson, Julio Jones, #88, Big AL...and the rest of the Bama team. What a way to kick off the season! We had friends over and we cheered the Tide to victory...actually I did most of the cheering and jumping.

My dogs have to get dressed up on gameday as well. I stayed up late Friday night making Lucy a matching apron with my scrap material. It was a little small but enough for a photo opp. It is funny because when I put her jersey on she freezes like she is paralyzed...actually a good behavioral tip to counterbalance her high energy of guests coming over. Chad sported his Western University of Colorado shirt...I am ok with that because it is the same colors as Bama...and let's be serious, he didn't get this kind of football experience at Western. Go Mountaineers!

I have to say that I had some pregame drama with my cable station showing the California game on ABC instead of the Alabama game but luckily it came through on ESPN Gameplan and the evening was salvaged. I was close to a breakdown! That is what I get for living out west.

We played another round of croquet after the game. Sampson got to hang out with the adults outside because at 4 1/2 he is so mature. However, Lucy would run around and pick up the balls, which is NOT part of the game, so she stayed inside and chewed on Lisa's lipgloss. Sorry Lisa:(

Has Lisa lost 30lbs?
