I'm not sure if I would have purchased one myself because the idea of an Elf getting into trouble every night and then it appearing fun and silly didn't appeal to me. I just didn't want to see my kids repeating those same silly "bad" actions that the Elf did...so I researched and got some ideas from The Elf on the Shelf-Jesus Style.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Our Elf arrived on December 1, 2013 and was cleverly named "Elfie" by Summer.</strong></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKsrd3lF0YA6QszvI6FvocbtZ3Np6gLH8hugS8SShYDgWcA5eBUKvg752RoGQkGuPntMKaKuer5GrarvmXI-SbPHNF00AQc63Jl9VV7ed7IGGLZRRCKzNInAnpIcOiCKkbRtlSlRXHtFqJ/s1600/elfie+arrives.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKsrd3lF0YA6QszvI6FvocbtZ3Np6gLH8hugS8SShYDgWcA5eBUKvg752RoGQkGuPntMKaKuer5GrarvmXI-SbPHNF00AQc63Jl9VV7ed7IGGLZRRCKzNInAnpIcOiCKkbRtlSlRXHtFqJ/s320/elfie+arrives.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 2-Elfie was found reading Summer's new Children's Devotional book she won at church.</strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There was also a letter written from Santa explaining that e<span style="color: black;">very night Elfie will
come visit me and I will send him back with a new activity that you can do
together to help you learn and remember the true meaning behind Christmas.
Each morning, look for your new friend. He will be in your
home waiting for you to find him so you can do the activity together!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<strong>By Day 3, Elfie provided some money and a reminder that it is better to Give than Receive.</strong></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We decided to go get a Star off the Angel Tree at Chick Fil A and give to another child in need.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih5RADMJqJ4CQV3lfsUV1XtlGx0fLVVAwyrzXiJUIk-KoQp1TQIZ-ndMf80B3jxCR7buXk-QW7CX8wRNWykj0somGZ87RtaypaV1OmmmSLSt45MukLUkdNx4b5E2Oc2O_6dLde4qMbrqmK/s1600/Elfie+day+2-in+action.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih5RADMJqJ4CQV3lfsUV1XtlGx0fLVVAwyrzXiJUIk-KoQp1TQIZ-ndMf80B3jxCR7buXk-QW7CX8wRNWykj0somGZ87RtaypaV1OmmmSLSt45MukLUkdNx4b5E2Oc2O_6dLde4qMbrqmK/s320/Elfie+day+2-in+action.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 4, Elfie was on top of the nativity scene reminding us that God loves us so much he sent his son, baby Jesus, to die for our sins.</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer was so nervous when she saw Elfie on this side table because the one rule with Elfie is you can't touch him...rightfully so, as Zane sends the 3 wise men flying across the living room a few times a day. However, on this day he actually didn't touch him...ok, while I was cooking dinner he did bring Elfie to me (I panicked to get him back without Summer seeing) but otherwise he didn't touch him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6NnHZfkffWE6NTGd1e83zQw356trHraE1_lSVdoYefLAR4ZyTUFHeWB2A3ze4j3dsKb5jKjCfCGHVzuufd0AD1HIMQSoXwZ6LiRvR0HD9na2X1YQGIxH7vPBYqleHBRASyKlMAROpIZ1W/s1600/Elfie+day+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6NnHZfkffWE6NTGd1e83zQw356trHraE1_lSVdoYefLAR4ZyTUFHeWB2A3ze4j3dsKb5jKjCfCGHVzuufd0AD1HIMQSoXwZ6LiRvR0HD9na2X1YQGIxH7vPBYqleHBRASyKlMAROpIZ1W/s320/Elfie+day+3.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 5, Elfie was encouraging the kids to help others (Mom, Brother/Sister, Friend/Teacher) with a cheerful heart!</strong> Both kids were "helpful" to each other handing the other whatever it was they needed...lovey toy, drink cup. Oh, and because Elfie had a paper towel and some cleaning solution she begged me to "let" her clean the windows before she left for school. O.K. I have to admit, this was one of my favorite days! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 6, Elfie celebrated with supplies to make a birthday cake for Jesus, after all that's why we have Christmas!</strong> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUNtQkV5LlfFyJ_H8CjS8VEf7njwoftNyFx0krfEQNjJARzNWHUUhG45Q43hnEBffne4vGhqtw0mT6VmxO6DwbqikyI-Z8uaw0tf3XVdtchntHOLByiqAMvT0RZN9JMWD6lkOudoH0IHgs/s1600/Elfie+day+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUNtQkV5LlfFyJ_H8CjS8VEf7njwoftNyFx0krfEQNjJARzNWHUUhG45Q43hnEBffne4vGhqtw0mT6VmxO6DwbqikyI-Z8uaw0tf3XVdtchntHOLByiqAMvT0RZN9JMWD6lkOudoH0IHgs/s320/Elfie+day+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 7, Surprise Surprise, Elfie made those cupcakes himself since Summer and Zane spent the night at Nana and Grandad's house (and they weren't all eaten at our Christmas party).</strong> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqrWq-A0FobgTUxPUDNA5e2oY0GW330KEBhCd5RHoAjb9NiB1XMasZbZ-qUvTwwoxhUaCLNMEbTfnbyMgXyoIF4NtjKHl-AhH1emw73Z4jreV0JWrHCL1P4YEDhYIVqKFjUsJp_dil45Ol/s1600/Elfie+day+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqrWq-A0FobgTUxPUDNA5e2oY0GW330KEBhCd5RHoAjb9NiB1XMasZbZ-qUvTwwoxhUaCLNMEbTfnbyMgXyoIF4NtjKHl-AhH1emw73Z4jreV0JWrHCL1P4YEDhYIVqKFjUsJp_dil45Ol/s320/Elfie+day+6.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 8, Elfie hung on a family photo letting us know that family is a precious gift from God.</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He also reminded the kids of Colossians 3:20, "Children, obey your parents in everything for this pleases the Lord." </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHPMidQ9zq-Jjqv6B4I97fjZCtfpfRCVqEe-n6SNcnLQ59qn1-OVSOxAw7EFBKSfYvwd8O4o_TUeQs3NHXOPjuqJun8Ffts7zBZDwPnEuCWrf07NotWxdr1IXBV-XReoW89Wpn3l12XgA0/s1600/Elfie+day+7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHPMidQ9zq-Jjqv6B4I97fjZCtfpfRCVqEe-n6SNcnLQ59qn1-OVSOxAw7EFBKSfYvwd8O4o_TUeQs3NHXOPjuqJun8Ffts7zBZDwPnEuCWrf07NotWxdr1IXBV-XReoW89Wpn3l12XgA0/s320/Elfie+day+7.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 9, Elfie encouraged us to do something nice for our neighbors.</strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Bible says, "Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 12:31</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2DT_0boaIPfBcCxjvEfTm8K04RCJJoJde6G__UL_tDJoaMElOq0NN086enDqU3SwaiX2WuZI2mfBVTvSf_N8Yh-B63YWm-fxLJH-hbOHUN0nAfu1GiVC_X3bqYCbW0NZgtIaGUHkvsaiI/s1600/Elfie+day+8.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2DT_0boaIPfBcCxjvEfTm8K04RCJJoJde6G__UL_tDJoaMElOq0NN086enDqU3SwaiX2WuZI2mfBVTvSf_N8Yh-B63YWm-fxLJH-hbOHUN0nAfu1GiVC_X3bqYCbW0NZgtIaGUHkvsaiI/s320/Elfie+day+8.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We took Elfie's big bag of M&Ms and Summer poured them in jars. We wrapped them in burlap and tied with a red bow attaching the M&M Christmas Story about the "3" Wise Men following the star to the "E"ast where they found a "M"anger where Jesus was born and how we "W"orship the king. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We are blessed with the best neighbors. We also plan to give some to our trash men this Friday. They have been purposefully waiving to Summer (and now Zane) for four years and it is about time we show them our appreciation. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 10, Elfie rewarded Summer and Zane for obeying his only rule of NO TOUCHING by sending them 2 of his cousins who they CAN touch.</strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They have been named Allie and Bama.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>Day 11 Elfie was celebrating in the Christmas tree attached to a balloon.</strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
His letter reminded the kids that "Today is the day that the Lord has made. Let us REJOICE and be GLAD in it." Psalm 118:24 </div>

These are some ways to use the Elf on the Shelf as an encouragement and to redirect the focus of the season back on Jesus's birth and sharing God's love with others. Hope you enjoy and feel free to leave me some ideas...25 days is a long time!<br />

It was sudden onset at his one year old birthday party and came and went two times (once when he was sick, but second when he was healthy) yet it has been abnormal for the past six months. The eye specialist has determined him to be in a league of his own and the cause is unknown as a MRI, CT scan and blood work showed no negative results. It hasn't affected him in any way that we have noticed...not dizziness, no headaches or balance issues. We have been diligently praying for his healing and God has given us peace in the meantime. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a picture of Zane if you were to try to get him to look left (late September).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPIe4hruHmwEC9y3Drc6K-9_Jl2t4QUu5pRawpumbf_6yqXGYkcMjhKwzeqyhh9KF7Z-999OYnz2nocpXChty99Tq5zMqwWMPOu5hGPCzMe8G3d6oZBz6EQHHehMKzXx7KcAlIbwkdpovF/s1600/Zanes+eye_092513.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPIe4hruHmwEC9y3Drc6K-9_Jl2t4QUu5pRawpumbf_6yqXGYkcMjhKwzeqyhh9KF7Z-999OYnz2nocpXChty99Tq5zMqwWMPOu5hGPCzMe8G3d6oZBz6EQHHehMKzXx7KcAlIbwkdpovF/s320/Zanes+eye_092513.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Two weeks ago, after battling a cold for five days I took him to the doctor and it turned out he had developed walking pneumonia. He was put on antibiotics and breathing treatments. Two days into the five day dosage he woke up from his morning nap and I thought I saw him look left! I was in disbelief so I grabbed my phone and had to take a picture. Praise the Lord! Zane looked left. I felt like I could shout it from the rooftop and in fact I did text everyone I knew this picture of Zane looking left (late November).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWEgUpF-6fqThkSWuCVCERZ8N-A3bmWul0gPUeH7l3ps7vtchw80H-BUNCu0YEXHemWt-JeabWYqlfFC8CrgIrTS0RSgrZ6bCHAO52Phyphenhyphen6HME-9BssChW3E_jX9oI6bQRv30ay9GCdBFvF/s1600/looking+left.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWEgUpF-6fqThkSWuCVCERZ8N-A3bmWul0gPUeH7l3ps7vtchw80H-BUNCu0YEXHemWt-JeabWYqlfFC8CrgIrTS0RSgrZ6bCHAO52Phyphenhyphen6HME-9BssChW3E_jX9oI6bQRv30ay9GCdBFvF/s320/looking+left.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I emailed this picture to Zane's eye specialist and he was very pleased. Mostly I was thrilled that he responded to my email in 30 minutes! Anyways, he said that the antibiotics would not have affected the nerve in that short amount of time so the cure is also unknown. Well, unknown to most but to us it is a result of faithful prayer and God's grace. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Whether his eye is abnormal or normal this little guy has a grip on my heart!</div>

A few things you should know about Zane:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
His voice is really loud!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
His response to almost any question is "Alright" (pronounced LOUD and SLOW)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He likes to tackle his sister.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He is a mama's boy and loves to be held at inconvenient times.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He is a big boy and loves to be independent at inconvenient times.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He has a follow up eye appointment in December where they will be dilating his eyes and checking vision. So far, his vision is still good and no need for glasses. I will let you know if there is any new information to share at that time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for checking in!</div>

I disappeared from this blog due to an overflowing plate and this was one of the first to go. However, its been on my mind and my to-do list...today its actually happening...because the other things on my list are no fun (clean out my organizer, really isn't it called an organizer for a reason!).<br />
<br />
I'm just going to jump right in with a kid update:<br />
<br />
Last I wrote Zane's eye was diagnosed with Sixth Nerve Palsy. He still has that. Doctor says he is in a league of his own and we are just watching and waiting. We have ruled out all the bad reasons that may cause it and they really don't know the trigger. However, God has given me peace in the waiting period and we are praying God to allow him to look left. He doesn't seem affected by it at all. It has gone back to normal then back to abnormal 3 times and is currently abnormal (my lingo). Most people wouldn't even notice unless you catch him trying to look left which would look like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5GRGamQ3hEnSVQxbvV_yajqZTYIFb_lSklRa6eWWPH1XKUfmtZEM2x1_CmmXzY_ey4jMRnV4gIriNnXdrPKokbaoh7twvgAfLN_TEVb_cijEdxzOjaNf0xjhVGWJvOOSfvJJpeMZZorf7/s1600/zane+looking+left.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5GRGamQ3hEnSVQxbvV_yajqZTYIFb_lSklRa6eWWPH1XKUfmtZEM2x1_CmmXzY_ey4jMRnV4gIriNnXdrPKokbaoh7twvgAfLN_TEVb_cijEdxzOjaNf0xjhVGWJvOOSfvJJpeMZZorf7/s320/zane+looking+left.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Otherwise, he is ridiculously cute!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8pZtvjr0dNgpEK0Co4Ms8LGpfFFLoFnMjM2ISD4734H9tQKCDi1uGK-ZnVQRZ88UO6Y4x_dJDXaCYnZo4LcVd4A7yR-RhDqm9UrOXuaoZz4VSPoihBrNaeZmKGTdjMeLJmTRwCHTzJDPa/s1600/cutie+pie.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8pZtvjr0dNgpEK0Co4Ms8LGpfFFLoFnMjM2ISD4734H9tQKCDi1uGK-ZnVQRZ88UO6Y4x_dJDXaCYnZo4LcVd4A7yR-RhDqm9UrOXuaoZz4VSPoihBrNaeZmKGTdjMeLJmTRwCHTzJDPa/s320/cutie+pie.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
Summer is in 4 year old preschool 5 days a week. She loves school and her teachers are the sweetest. She has made some new friends as well as all the girls from her 3 year old class are in this class. She is a super big sis and is so tolerant of the hair pulling and sometimes biting from her brother (he is improving but it still happens).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDJnfQgpRVwcLIb17Xw_KFl9z8GPKFFXsOsOKnfOh214rXhXNVFr5zruDq3xLfPISUpEsp5pIYD5Rg6YZrD8RrQ0e6gpaEKE4YTeK7fLPNR4nqaA02g6E0dMX1m8Pzyz4GdLUm0uNo1Y3R/s1600/sweet+kids.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDJnfQgpRVwcLIb17Xw_KFl9z8GPKFFXsOsOKnfOh214rXhXNVFr5zruDq3xLfPISUpEsp5pIYD5Rg6YZrD8RrQ0e6gpaEKE4YTeK7fLPNR4nqaA02g6E0dMX1m8Pzyz4GdLUm0uNo1Y3R/s320/sweet+kids.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Summer, at age 4, is so sweet. Just this morning on the way to school she said, "Thank you mommy for my smoothie this morning (she had at least an hour earlier). I love you! I just can't stop loving you, not even one bit!" Well THANK YOU too sugar angel pumpkin head!<br />
<br />
Finally, I always think of my blog as a way to share God's word and how powerful it is as encouragement to me. So today I read in the book, Jesus Calling, about complaining. Often when I have a complaint I turn to my family or friends...which can easily lead to self pity and gossip. God actually wants us to turn to him and tell him our complaints and he will straighten up our perspective...putting his thoughts in our mind. I thought this was very applicable in my daily life. <br />
The verse to go along with this is <u>Philippians 2:14</u> <strong>Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.</strong><br />
<br />
This was fun...maybe I'll be back again soon.Janahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01628182751416450252noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4896344500860855451.post-4774216018125375112013-04-16T12:35:00.000-07:002013-04-16T12:35:31.702-07:00Something is not right<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The day of Zane's one year old birthday party I noticed something funny going on with his left eye. I saw his eyes cross, and it caught my attention, but then they uncrossed. There was so much going on that day that I didn't think much about it. The next day was Sunday and he was dedicated at church so it wasn't until lunch that I finally took a good look at him to see what was going on. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you can see in the picture here his left eye is turned to the inside corner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijS8FL4OZY2QNTIVJz7cv32DHPU89KwhUpEkT51IgCOl8vpQ9gOVjpYGvWOdrgGgtDuwGVv2Hdtq4ubJYVzQdR4t5mGqVkTs4i7P0F4TXScRBWjpORVUXexwIDxGcjhUtNydQ18zdN2vyv/s1600/Zane's+First+Birthday+005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijS8FL4OZY2QNTIVJz7cv32DHPU89KwhUpEkT51IgCOl8vpQ9gOVjpYGvWOdrgGgtDuwGVv2Hdtq4ubJYVzQdR4t5mGqVkTs4i7P0F4TXScRBWjpORVUXexwIDxGcjhUtNydQ18zdN2vyv/s320/Zane's+First+Birthday+005.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In addition, his head is turned to the left a few degrees. This seems minor but I knew it wasn't right or normal for him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmhZW0AzVRWV8Bt5icwQ0VcSPWdsnOTTn-VL844foLVn0dysCDzSmsHpipGReE65flIEfUZlY8YbbDFy9xkXVzislPdM07Og0eIo8JQGyid4SibG2KYEIzKsTn3cls9CAiM-uR5zrxb8F/s1600/Zane's+First+Birthday+023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCmhZW0AzVRWV8Bt5icwQ0VcSPWdsnOTTn-VL844foLVn0dysCDzSmsHpipGReE65flIEfUZlY8YbbDFy9xkXVzislPdM07Og0eIo8JQGyid4SibG2KYEIzKsTn3cls9CAiM-uR5zrxb8F/s320/Zane's+First+Birthday+023.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
The next morning, Monday, was his one year old check-up with his pediatrician. I mentioned it to him and he referred me to the ophthalmologist and we got an appointment the next day. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTuYWsTrjkHln2l2CWwIcYfIUzvjNFhA8hrdrFfzkIZzyWU4LWW9MWCBfF8EtnI6M60nOLvbT_ryEolCNfv_onHLqsaYwrdxlgaUeKD8Ra75CLo7nQ_T0GW4fc-i9p3hJlUSMS6tne6xK3/s1600/attempting+to+look+left+032713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTuYWsTrjkHln2l2CWwIcYfIUzvjNFhA8hrdrFfzkIZzyWU4LWW9MWCBfF8EtnI6M60nOLvbT_ryEolCNfv_onHLqsaYwrdxlgaUeKD8Ra75CLo7nQ_T0GW4fc-i9p3hJlUSMS6tne6xK3/s320/attempting+to+look+left+032713.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Tuesday, the ophthalmologist said it was one of two diagnosis: Duane's Syndrome (something you are born with) or Sixth Nerve Palsy (sudden onset). He asked me for some photos of Zane looking left and I <u>could not find one </u>in my 300+ pictures on my phone. Chad and I searched our computers that night and we were able to find 3 throughout his life therefore ruling out Duane's Syndrome. <br />
Side note: take a picture of your kids looking left and right just in case. <br />
We were left with the diagnosis of Sixth Nerve Palsy. After I emailed the doctor with the pictures of Zane looking left he decided to admit him to the hospital that day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4q-zz7Y9xHZMLQf34YRaDYfnM3YgCpB1E_m_KRO3LAsWWd87lVu5iVxfDJWdsgVZLremRT2agMMLznNQOFjv2TTIh3015Zrv9mLBo5Obnyxz33cIlfsO2gLGC4w5HUdiqPP1pURLo7l5U/s1600/head+turn+032713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4q-zz7Y9xHZMLQf34YRaDYfnM3YgCpB1E_m_KRO3LAsWWd87lVu5iVxfDJWdsgVZLremRT2agMMLznNQOFjv2TTIh3015Zrv9mLBo5Obnyxz33cIlfsO2gLGC4w5HUdiqPP1pURLo7l5U/s320/head+turn+032713.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wednesday we were admitted to the hospital with the concern that Zane's chronic ear infections (he had one in his left ear at the moment) had spread outside the ear and infected the mastoid bone, therefore inflaming the sixth nerve (whose only function is to control eye movement). This is called Gradenigo's Syndrome and can be cured with IV antibiotics but if untreated would lead to meningitis. We were sent to get an MRI but it couldn't be done at that time of day so they thought about a CT Scan but then the doctor didn't think it was necessary.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxzAwbPiArRuyK7dS-ye9onwQEu79wpVI-XyXSdWAa151hE_VhbeHhG8qJACVpsnT5HVEPF4K_WR6EZTP4muPRiHq-q_4dZvppwYstS2v505XGTMG-25XQZ3yVfpPsZa3wosIcX2DwaYPp/s1600/zane+daddy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxzAwbPiArRuyK7dS-ye9onwQEu79wpVI-XyXSdWAa151hE_VhbeHhG8qJACVpsnT5HVEPF4K_WR6EZTP4muPRiHq-q_4dZvppwYstS2v505XGTMG-25XQZ3yVfpPsZa3wosIcX2DwaYPp/s320/zane+daddy.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our poor boy is a challenge for even the expert nurses to get an IV in. They would get a vein but then it would clot and bruise and they would have to try again. It took them 45 minutes of deathly screaming to finally get the IV in his head. He was so happy to be back in Mama's arms. Chad and I can take some screaming but 45 minutes was breaking our hearts. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOvGs_aRyrmk9pYsw6aiFSR1dcjd-L6_ZEn4DFG4TGuaKgp2jjMd7tzQ-RGAB5hVns7l_wYSt60mnHSYadHA2vS1BxsJIu9yoxzqw87YnBMgT1DQuCaMaOfXR-XA3Q3P609O_wZyRT47Ey/s1600/zane+mommy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOvGs_aRyrmk9pYsw6aiFSR1dcjd-L6_ZEn4DFG4TGuaKgp2jjMd7tzQ-RGAB5hVns7l_wYSt60mnHSYadHA2vS1BxsJIu9yoxzqw87YnBMgT1DQuCaMaOfXR-XA3Q3P609O_wZyRT47Ey/s320/zane+mommy.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thursday morning! Oh, were we happy the night was over. Sleeping, or rather not sleeping in the hospital is brutal and the time seems to go so slow. Zane couldn't sleep in the crib because of the IV in his head. So he slept in my arms sitting in the chair ALL NIGHT. But I would do it again (and I did). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVqKFx7GqZfP5yL_5Ue0k4QIpOL_mszUbWan-T8xbrd-chbTBRa6_rmrMG_IZHx5a-F1yMcFqtEe2h26iVZOdhEMVxoIVx9kVVMfR0pDNwiEB5p7y47BbChBQHbBdwh98pJt28vV6w_cfx/s1600/glad+its+morning.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVqKFx7GqZfP5yL_5Ue0k4QIpOL_mszUbWan-T8xbrd-chbTBRa6_rmrMG_IZHx5a-F1yMcFqtEe2h26iVZOdhEMVxoIVx9kVVMfR0pDNwiEB5p7y47BbChBQHbBdwh98pJt28vV6w_cfx/s320/glad+its+morning.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Later that day our ENT ordered a CT Scan. I appreciated the doctors keeping us in the loop (we had Zane's ENT, Ophthalmologist and hospital Dr working as a team) and telling us each time they changed their mind or thought they had a different diagnosis. It just shows that in Zane's case it was a process of elimination to get a diagnosis. Thank goodness for baby cocktails-the ct scanner girls said he was the funniest patient in 20 years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNXRz6IntL55JvqLDzCLFvctGAy5YCSFyi7cDhDCBKbpCOILatKGxNbR4v-eAfRJimG4zYVZHa53KA_QEfOzpmK2u0EF5B4WvI8oOL1ZODLbWJQCqZOiMQcouzSQ4J_s2vYAa1VnPjdCf/s1600/ct+scan.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhNXRz6IntL55JvqLDzCLFvctGAy5YCSFyi7cDhDCBKbpCOILatKGxNbR4v-eAfRJimG4zYVZHa53KA_QEfOzpmK2u0EF5B4WvI8oOL1ZODLbWJQCqZOiMQcouzSQ4J_s2vYAa1VnPjdCf/s320/ct+scan.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since Zane was otherwise healthy we did a lot of playing in the days. We raced those halls like a Nascar driver! And big sister came up to visit and participated in an Easter egg hunt in the hallways. The hospital staff at Mission Hospital really was caring and friendly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaK5RYINf1spdnj_BbGuNd36ca6lc4m8g57s64EYMF0kyepCW21OD-rS9enK0YCHAaDvClqximIkQE9x5OXnnKmLglgfFL6AfuYxKl1qoKu4q-zxh0wsRS5dJW3jP_zgnG7G_b-FEymyAu/s1600/racing+the+halls.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaK5RYINf1spdnj_BbGuNd36ca6lc4m8g57s64EYMF0kyepCW21OD-rS9enK0YCHAaDvClqximIkQE9x5OXnnKmLglgfFL6AfuYxKl1qoKu4q-zxh0wsRS5dJW3jP_zgnG7G_b-FEymyAu/s320/racing+the+halls.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Friday, after ruling out Gradenigo's Syndrome and having a clean CT Scan and blood work we were discharged from the hospital with an appointment for an MRI the following Friday. By ruling out most other "bad" diagnosis the only one left was a brain tumor which would be found in an MRI. We tried not to think about that and it was a long week of prayer. We felt so much support from our family and friends. We appreciate the prayers and the morning of the MRI I felt peace that God would be there for us whatever they might find. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaqkx6gMVAK2J_jvqFtmoPPRErWIRz4ojAiLmI4BG8GQz7Z5iwtlrIA9CmWvnpUz_odjIzUZPEOGWWVZVGvnQxWKa53Q8YsgH-_ZSXQyoBrti5YCUnYtiS4rWDlpY-9KbGj0ZiHX6QcD8T/s1600/get+better+letter.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaqkx6gMVAK2J_jvqFtmoPPRErWIRz4ojAiLmI4BG8GQz7Z5iwtlrIA9CmWvnpUz_odjIzUZPEOGWWVZVGvnQxWKa53Q8YsgH-_ZSXQyoBrti5YCUnYtiS4rWDlpY-9KbGj0ZiHX6QcD8T/s320/get+better+letter.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Although he did get poked 5 times to get the IV (both arms, head and both sides of his neck) his MRI came out clean. The radiologist came to speak with us immediately (which is rare) and told us the good news. Thank God we didn't have to wait all weekend. On Monday, we went in for our ophthalmologist check-up and Zane was able to look past the mid line! Amazing.<br />
<br />
Today is 3.5 weeks after the Sixth Nerve Palsy began and we have seen Zane looking left (all the way at times). Plus, as you can see his head tilt/turn has straightened back to center. Praise God. As fast as this palsy came about it seems to be leaving. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1jx5ymzXbCyv-Mh7xFgRXuR_KVJ25XxrnjkWugC4y-Ep6eQ9uqN0sFwywCmebW7yfEsjqVwX2rQ7GzanaJ9bVARST16w1F0ISO_B6TLh0aUydP95GXAysxk3vYiDLn7eg-7qvtP76K8or/s1600/no+head+tilt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1jx5ymzXbCyv-Mh7xFgRXuR_KVJ25XxrnjkWugC4y-Ep6eQ9uqN0sFwywCmebW7yfEsjqVwX2rQ7GzanaJ9bVARST16w1F0ISO_B6TLh0aUydP95GXAysxk3vYiDLn7eg-7qvtP76K8or/s320/no+head+tilt.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This situation has reminded me that as Christians we must be ready to trust God. Really trust God. We cannot do "life" on our own and our heavenly Father loves us, supports us, sends angels (fellow Christians) around us to lift us up. He has a plan for each one of us and I am so happy to see what he has in store for Zane. </div>

On March 20th Zane turned ONE.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At 1 year old, Zane is 22 lb and 28-ish inches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He loves to eat food with his hands. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He loves his parents and being held although once he gets in the zone he can play by himself for 20 minutes at a time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Zane's first birthday party was a JUNGLE theme. </div>

I special ordered Zane's birthday cake and for his "smash cake" I had a cupcake...I mean a one year old doesn't need to eat THAT much cake, right. Well Daddy didn't agree. He ran to the grocery store prior to the party and got Zane a full size sheet cake for him to destroy. And that he did!</div>

For the record, Zane is not walking yet but he can stand unassisted, couch surf and crawl pretty fast. Walking will be here in no time. His only real words so far are "Mama" and "Dada."</div>

Zane got to celebrate with Mammy and Papa </div>

What an exciting, fun filled time 2013 has turned out to be. Chad had a business function at the Grove Park Inn and I was able to join him for the social portion and we spent the night. And to our surprise we woke up to a little snow storm. Too bad I didn't get to check out their spa! That would have been a dream.</div>

Those beautiful blue eyes make me just want to squeeze and kiss him! Which is good because oh...during dinner time he makes me crazy. He sits in his highchair and does the windshield wiper move on any piece of food I put on his tray. So frustrating. This week, if it isn't pizza, Chick fil A nuggets or strawberries it isn't going to last long before he starts sending it flying! He is getting at least 1 new bottom tooth. It has broken the skin but I fear it may take a whole week of pain before we are in the clear (and then another one will probably start). </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last week, while in the car I said Psalm 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." I actually said it with quite a bit of passion to make an impression and found myself repeating it each morning as we drove somewhere. Well, Monday when I picked Summer up from school she walked out of her classroom door and said, "Guess what?" Then she proceeded to quote the scripture back to me! I was so proud at that moment and actually questioned if she learned that in chapel that day but she hadn't. My little girl is a sponge. I won't be underestimating her ability to memorize anymore.</div>

Zane is 11 months old-2/20/13</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wow, this past month Zane has really grown and developed. He is a super fast crawler now who likes to practice standing on his own. He doesn't walk yet but has the foot motion once his balance gets there. Speaking of balance, he has a hard time because he is a tub of love! This boy can eat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<strong><u>At 11 months, Zane LOVES:</u></strong><br />
<ul>
<li>To eat: most anything he can pick up by himself, pizza and strawberries are his favorite</li>
<li>Playing in the Playroom: he would prefer to be let down and set free to roam by himself...OK, didn't have to convince Mama of that.</li>
<li>Drinking milk from a sippy cup</li>
</ul>
<strong><u>At 11 months, Zane does not like:</u></strong><br />
<ul>
<li>Being fed with a spoon...at least this week</li>
</ul>
<strong><u>Other notable accomplishments:</u></strong><br />
<ul>
<li>Zane is sleeping through the night...or at least, Mama is no longer getting up with him if he wakes up.</li>
<li>Zane is no longer breastfeeding...he has moved on to whole milk.</li>
<li>He is beginning to mimick big sister...when she coughs, he coughs...when she laughs, he laughs</li>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer has fallen in love with her Daddy! She refers to him as "my best buddy" and must do all things with or next to her best buddy. She waits to eat with her best buddy, must sit next to him and hold his hand. It is so sweet. I asked her, "If Daddy is your best buddy, then what am I?" She responded, "just mom." Right...of course...just mom.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This was the only dusting of snow we have received at our house this winter. So we made the most out of it. Summer said we were making a snow castle. </div>

Daddy is getting a new office and we went to check it out. It is the two empty windows to the left of Summer's hair bow in the taller building. Really neat. </div>

Mark it down...Zane's had his first bump and bruise. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now that he is mobile he thought it would be a good idea to stand in the bathtub...and since I bath he and Summer at once I was shampooing her hair when he stood and subsequently fell.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

After drying his tears and consoling him, Summer was going to get in my bed to do her breathing treatment and tripped and fell hitting her nose to the corner of the chest at the foot of the bed. THAT was a rough night! Thankfully they both healed without any medical attention.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm not sure what this means but he does it often when I am feeding him...lay his head down on his arm. The obvious answer would be he is tired but he looks pretty happy to me. He is enjoying his first ever Chick-Fil-A chicken nugget. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer loves having a full-time playmate. She just picks him up and drags him to wherever she wants him to go (oh, how that will change soon). On this day, she pulled him under the table where they were playing fort. Summer is in her princess dress of course. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I have begun the weaning process off breastfeeding and to whole milk. So far so good. I think he is ready and I think I am too. The biggest roadblock has been finding a sippy cup that he can drink well out of and the winner is one of Summer's big girl straw cups. He just doesn't get the cups that have to be turned up for the liquid to come out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Zane's 1st Birthday party is next month and I am starting to plan. I'm so excited to see him grow.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I realize this is a predominately Zane post...next one will have more Summer information.</div>

I just realized as I was uploading the pictures that within the past 5 days we have a cancelled day of school for ice/snow and yet also had 65-70 degree weather were we have gone to the park twice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Friday I woke up to pre-school being cancelled due to ice/snow. However, we did not see any snow at our house so I had to get creative. We played school at home instead of going to school. Fun for Summer but a good reminder for Mama that I am not interested in homeschooling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Craft time making Snowmen.</div>

Zane napped most of our "school day" but then he was up to join in on the learning. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Creativity rolled into the weekend where we made a charm bracelet out of paper-interesting! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Today Zane was able to enjoy his very first TEA PARTY with big sister. He loved the crackers and sitting in a big chair. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO1Z7P_EPkowj17ov-BZ0c4kHcGAyYBTAr5Pvk7G8OEELHRAcD65oiJQR1ND8JQNO11epdYEOgxjVvz3I_Q-Edu95aW-66Z8AliNII4LHIvpXvrt4KOUN3szj-dTbn3jc3fysKb9Sw_lDK/s1600/tea+party.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO1Z7P_EPkowj17ov-BZ0c4kHcGAyYBTAr5Pvk7G8OEELHRAcD65oiJQR1ND8JQNO11epdYEOgxjVvz3I_Q-Edu95aW-66Z8AliNII4LHIvpXvrt4KOUN3szj-dTbn3jc3fysKb9Sw_lDK/s320/tea+party.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He even helped Summer wash dishes in her kitchen. Neat to see him standing and being able to play. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
And we had a wonderful time getting fresh air at the park today. Riding bikes, running into friends and having a picnic puts a smile on this girl's face. </div>

I have started not forcing Summer to take a nap as it is starting to interfere with nightime sleep. Today she hung in there as long as possible until I caught her resting in the clothes basket with a pillow and blanket somehow inside Zane's little playhouse, watching cartoons. She was almost asleep when I snapped this photo. </div>

Last I updated, Zane was turning 9 months old and was on his second round of antibiotics for an ear infection. Well, 2 didn't do the trick so we went back to the doctor for a 3rd round. By this time he had been on antibiotics for 30 days. Then he got a cold...I was determined that I could treat this at home, after all, I had JUST BEEN to the Dr. 3 times...I mean, am I a paranoid mother or what? Well, after trying to wait it out I could tell his little mood was just too fussy to stay home so we went AGAIN. He had RSV. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ha ha ha...guess what RSV causes in most patients-that's right-ear infections. By this time I was like, "I dare your ears to get infected! I'm going to put tubes in so fast..." And sure enough at our follow up appointment 3 days later those little ears where infected. Ironically, Summer had a 6 month check up at the ENT the very next day:) Oh, did I mention that Summer had an ear infection too. Fun times!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE88sNIXN2fLlM7YaLAf8S4puI3mgMFq505WArhIm3fm5o4JVqwxnMOQEYrXgY1mN2llcWVy_d4PGnLJ6bBXEKjIoRwU_ucSVaYhD1f-A2rTQRYBbWkUKaZTqCcOgW_PqB-DpaXNAVj1zn/s1600/back+to+doctor.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE88sNIXN2fLlM7YaLAf8S4puI3mgMFq505WArhIm3fm5o4JVqwxnMOQEYrXgY1mN2llcWVy_d4PGnLJ6bBXEKjIoRwU_ucSVaYhD1f-A2rTQRYBbWkUKaZTqCcOgW_PqB-DpaXNAVj1zn/s320/back+to+doctor.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Needless to say, we went to the ENT on Tuesday and were getting tubes on Thursday. This happy little guy is just thrilled to be with his daddy. Daddy looks a little tired as we were all up by 5am.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2xe5VrW5AKBnt1OA8m2BTfZxtIV5S72aJSzDHB6gd28GzTXW868Hfd75ljmFSoiWC7Oc5OTimj78q5Kfat6U-I2UwzbW24xGS6K6DT7L38FKQMtDKGLRZT6nfvY9DmfQqqW3dvh0wY9W6/s1600/zane+tues.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2xe5VrW5AKBnt1OA8m2BTfZxtIV5S72aJSzDHB6gd28GzTXW868Hfd75ljmFSoiWC7Oc5OTimj78q5Kfat6U-I2UwzbW24xGS6K6DT7L38FKQMtDKGLRZT6nfvY9DmfQqqW3dvh0wY9W6/s320/zane+tues.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer was a little unsure but she went back just fine with one of the nurses. She was also getting her adenoids removed during the same proceedure since this was her 2nd set of tubes (first fell out). Zane came out of his surgery in no time and within 10 minutes he was back to his normal happy self. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer's surgery was scheduled to be 45 minutes and she had to be put to sleep with a breathing tube as part of the normal proceedure. However, during the surgery she had an asthma attack that we were told was serious, in fact, "life-threatening." Those are not words you want to hear as a parent. She was unable to keep her oxygen levels up and was on oxygen. On her own she would dip down into the low 80's in a few seconds. That was very scary to see. We waited for a couple of hours for her to improve but when she was still in the 80's the anesthesiologist said he wanted us to go to the hospital for further observation and to spend the night (we were at an outpatient surgery center). That sent me into shock. We did that this summer, and the idea of riding in an ambulance and the coordination of care for Zane was just alot to process in a few seconds and I had to BREATHE. The nurses were very kind and helpful during this time. About 10 minutes later we were told that the ENT wanted us to stay for a few more hours at the outpatient center for observation. We did and thankfully once the anesthesia began to wear off she started breathing better. WOW, what a whirlwind on a routine proceedure. Just another reminder of how precious life is. </div>

December 21, Zane turned 9 months. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This past month has been a big growth month with new teeth (currently has 2 bottom, 2 top and his 2 upper eye teeth are coming in) and new movement. Zane is on the move, no crawling but he can roll himself to where he wants to go. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, and remember how I used to say that he was a little unhappy in those first 6 months...that phase has passed. Zane is one happy baby boy now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Go figure, the boy who normally gets kicked out of class at church actually fell asleep IN A CRIB (lights on and parents picking up other kids). As you can tell, I was so amazed I had to take a picture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
He is so well adjusted now in part to his extremely involved big sister who loves him dearly. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Zane absolutely loved going to the doctor's office sitting on the exam table and ripping the paper to shreds...in front of a mirror no less! He measured in at 28 inches (75% percentile) and 20.4 lbs (50% percentile). I am thankful that our sweet boy is growing healthy. He did have his first ear infection this month which took 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear. </div>

Summer had her very first Christmas program tonight at her school which we love, SonShine Preschool. Here she is with some of the sweet girls in her class, Raelie and Lila.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDMTGr0nBn5DnGtYCthkSfgkz72mHIGySKImnsbX-uddPmVeZpnwxeoccfqori-Kdmvx4KQjtdh758LVclTvGY5gUAKm9__oa1GxlINtzw40XL_cDGYR2IYZdMWrAS5UBKKlEx_LplI457/s1600/school+friends.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDMTGr0nBn5DnGtYCthkSfgkz72mHIGySKImnsbX-uddPmVeZpnwxeoccfqori-Kdmvx4KQjtdh758LVclTvGY5gUAKm9__oa1GxlINtzw40XL_cDGYR2IYZdMWrAS5UBKKlEx_LplI457/s320/school+friends.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And we couldn't ask for more caring teachers, Ms. Melissa and Ms. Debbie. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9dLHCElbaDdo1qs5nbJ21WBIEst62TQ-gJ5WV1KKuYsAICnwYeDA9Bpvr7ABPb0byUAXGTHu13JD6Q0MJR2Xagdvy8l5kspXCtPhWLlUgjhguCY47cbmBG7Hm5at3lkeRKpyvOujVAT9S/s1600/teachers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9dLHCElbaDdo1qs5nbJ21WBIEst62TQ-gJ5WV1KKuYsAICnwYeDA9Bpvr7ABPb0byUAXGTHu13JD6Q0MJR2Xagdvy8l5kspXCtPhWLlUgjhguCY47cbmBG7Hm5at3lkeRKpyvOujVAT9S/s320/teachers.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And this first performance was for a packed house including Nana, Grandad, Daddy and Zane. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course, Mama does get some credit too as I have been practicing with Summer listening to the SAME 3 SONGS in the car for the past 19 days.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They performed The Little Drummer Boy, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. (hmm, video is emailing upside down-will figure out how to flip then post)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is our little drummer girl (afterwards in the parking lot).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
We are so proud of how well she performed and didn't get stage fright. I could even hear her singing in some verses!</div>

Last week's tragedy of a deadly shooting of innocent children and adults in Connecticut prompted many thoughts. First, I didn't want to know...just shelter my brain and heart from hearing the details. Then. I received a daily email devotional including this poem:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: green; font-family: "Arial Black","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: green; font-family: "Arial Black","sans-serif"; font-size: 10pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">"My First Christmas In Heaven"<br />
</span><span style="color: black; font-family: "MS Sans Serif","serif"; font-size: 10pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-US;">I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below<br />
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow<br />
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear<br />
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.<br />
<br />
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear<br />
But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas<br />
choir up here. I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices<br />
bring. For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.<br />
<br />
I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart<br />
But I am not so far away, We really aren't apart.<br />
So be happy for me, dear ones, You know I hold you dear.<br />
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.<br />
<br />
I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.<br />
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.<br />
After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold.<br />
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.<br />
<br />
Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do.<br />
For I can't count the blessing or love he has for each of you.<br />
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear<br />
Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ<br />
this year.<br />

Well, Summer wrote Santa Claus a letter asking him to come visit us and bring a few presents while Papa and Mammy were visiting this past weekend and sure enough he did just that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxysg9TIlqx2v0FkD1qQVKoLKtLDH3Oojbx_u1BaFlCXm0exJf9b9mbWjTJo3SDi3LLa9hNlCauPuS1Pdqq9b9tGv0LPNwsdIJtMqUFu_SlcwOvYffrERm5gfuH21IfU1zLcR6Nj0W7bP9/s1600/christmas+summer.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxysg9TIlqx2v0FkD1qQVKoLKtLDH3Oojbx_u1BaFlCXm0exJf9b9mbWjTJo3SDi3LLa9hNlCauPuS1Pdqq9b9tGv0LPNwsdIJtMqUFu_SlcwOvYffrERm5gfuH21IfU1zLcR6Nj0W7bP9/s320/christmas+summer.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Summer was so excited. When she went to open each gift however she did so VERY carefully to save the tape...she said that her teacher, Ms. Debbie, was out of tape and she needed to save this for her. So thoughtful! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh wow, Mammy, Summer and Papa posing in front of Summer's new kitchen. I see lots of cooking in her future.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I was surprised to see how much excitement Zane showed over his new riding toy! This boy is going to have fun. Maybe he is just so thrilled to see that not all toys are made pink. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9HGV3TLqNkwqp0XMB3tXi96k5DGC2UHXL5ciNb9Zxb1MGX10Ep3TJl68JWIExlzYX4sKjlV9hVSnPKEeWEy0oaGbELZgrqAuShCjDM40VXwL6FB_4oBtUj8hIYCzN0TzEqdN-FcnWwhWJ/s1600/pretty+toes.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9HGV3TLqNkwqp0XMB3tXi96k5DGC2UHXL5ciNb9Zxb1MGX10Ep3TJl68JWIExlzYX4sKjlV9hVSnPKEeWEy0oaGbELZgrqAuShCjDM40VXwL6FB_4oBtUj8hIYCzN0TzEqdN-FcnWwhWJ/s320/pretty+toes.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On a sidenote: Summer looked at my toes, which were painted by moi about, ohh 2+ months ago and as you can tell they are desperate looking...and she said to me "pretty toes Mommy!" I wish I could see life through the eyes of a 3 year old.</div>

Back on 11.21 little Zane turned 8 months old. He is such a sweet love these days. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Zane weighs in at 19lb 12oz. He wears 12 month clothes and eats 3 meals a day. For my records, he has eaten bananas, pears, peaches, applesauce, oatmeal, avocado, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, puffs, cheeto-type puffs, teething biscuits, yogurt...tried cottage cheese today and it didn't seem to be a hit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Zane loves being entertained by Big Sister and trying to pet Sissy, when she's still. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We welcomed two bottom teeth this month. The mega drool has temporarily stopped but I am sure we will see it again as more teeth make their appearance.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhycKUJSn-3sb1HxIHnxRBN_h_SfWjKh5sEjW9aiE8wWIQufECLhNdHbvzfgXn3mJJ_11DbEMnCE79svVsbHctS5jh71ZZ-EApncUHjbRKkt2ZxLCPNhxaLqk7hyphenhyphenf21Ybm7a8wJRcDy5DGB/s1600/zane+with+ear+infection.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhycKUJSn-3sb1HxIHnxRBN_h_SfWjKh5sEjW9aiE8wWIQufECLhNdHbvzfgXn3mJJ_11DbEMnCE79svVsbHctS5jh71ZZ-EApncUHjbRKkt2ZxLCPNhxaLqk7hyphenhyphenf21Ybm7a8wJRcDy5DGB/s320/zane+with+ear+infection.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Zane hasn't started to crawl yet but he is no longer content just sitting there like he has been. Now when in the seated position he wants to get on his tummy and roll. For Mama, that means he can no longer sit on the bed with Sister during her breathing treatments or sit on the couch and watch his movie...that sure was a nice phase! Here is his pre-crawl picture. I imagine in the next month he will start moving. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week he has started this loud scream. Its like he is finding his voice but whoa, buddy it doesn't have to be so loud!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UloVlgMylnEmHJwVKglus-qJXjKM7q3xDsMyRrtkng2AuAakRg_6lF70RavVd00_1xXiIuEu3l_CM553GH49SpuvpQjFK-qev7Ja5FUtknwv_XOIuYk0pRpgfTbD97nnJU7H4S8dYNmb/s1600/pre-crawl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UloVlgMylnEmHJwVKglus-qJXjKM7q3xDsMyRrtkng2AuAakRg_6lF70RavVd00_1xXiIuEu3l_CM553GH49SpuvpQjFK-qev7Ja5FUtknwv_XOIuYk0pRpgfTbD97nnJU7H4S8dYNmb/s320/pre-crawl.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We went to Alabama for Thanksgiving and stayed with Uncle Bud, Aunt Jen an d Cousin Brody. We had alot of fun playing at the park near their house. Here are the boys swinging while Summer explored the rest of the park.</div>

Off to watch the SEC Championship, Roll Tide! Update: Alabama won after a heart attach of a game.</div>

Where have I been? Wow, not blogging I can see. Well here is a quick recap of what we have been up too before I get too behind.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took the kiddos on a road trip to Alabama. They were amazingly good in the car and we only added an extra hour to our trip...I had planned for the worst.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
After we got back home, it was back to my Motherly duties...playing princess. Notice that my hair has been put in pig tails, one with a white tape measure and the other with a strand pulled from a pom pom. We have a thankful tree and every night we have been writing what each member of the family is thankful for. On this night, Summer said she was thankful that Mommy played dress up with her! Sweet.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Zane is growing and has sprouted two bottom teeth...well they are still trying to grow tall but the worst part is over, hopefully. Summer is in imagination overdrive. I know that's good but those of us around her just have to hang on and wonder if we are supposed to call her Summer, Princess Summer, Ms. Debbie, Tooth Fairy...not to mention who our dog is...mean bear, nice bear, coyote...Luckily Zane is completely amused by her and it works out for Mama.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And that is my QUICK recap! Happy Thanksgiving Day or as Summer's hat says, "Get Your Turkey On!" Gobble Gobble Gobble. Those brown things are turkey legs on the side of her hat...not a good angle for the pic, sorry.<br />

Let me tell you a little about Summer (3 yr. 5 mo.). She is such a caretaker. She loves to mother Zane and even her friends at times. She wants to be good and her heart melts if she thinks she has disappointed or upset you. Therefore she is a very obedient child...more so at school and church. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She loves school and her teachers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM3DWcvzbEgXpf8E-HkwOHshuxmjhyphenhyphenEdiwATJCFE5YFpoojI0dtXsqv8gVffkwa0fYXFsAB6zP7WG9BcuwVRcAcfvHLskbetiqMm8VZoFhW4QsvPWwa_iff3yPnC0j_fD48HtztYrZuw_K/s1600/Summer+Halloween+outfit.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM3DWcvzbEgXpf8E-HkwOHshuxmjhyphenhyphenEdiwATJCFE5YFpoojI0dtXsqv8gVffkwa0fYXFsAB6zP7WG9BcuwVRcAcfvHLskbetiqMm8VZoFhW4QsvPWwa_iff3yPnC0j_fD48HtztYrZuw_K/s320/Summer+Halloween+outfit.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These days we play school so much at home. Most of the time she is Ms. Debbie and I am in her class, or she has pretend students, or Zane is her student. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week we were playing school and this was the conversation:</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strong>Summer:</strong> Who has on a green shirt, and a black shirt, blue jeans and house shoes?</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strong>Jana:</strong> (I raise my hand. That's how the game goes.)</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<strong>Summer</strong>: (Walks to me and puts her hand on her hip.) Hmm, you have a green sweater. I said who has on a green shirt. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Seems silly, but this is how all of our pretend conversations go...she asks me a question-I answer and she then says "no" and picks a different answer. I just sigh and wonder if I will ever get it right. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When they line up at school the teacher tells them what color square to stand on. When Summer gets to stand on the pink square it makes her day! She got to do that last Friday. So as we were driving to school Monday morning she said, "I wish wish wish I get to stand on Pink. God took my wish away-and put it in Ms. Debbie and Ms. Melissa's heart." </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just smiled and thanked God for her sweet heart. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here she is loving on Zane during his first adventure SITTING in the front of the grocery cart. So glad our grocery store has double child carts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This weekend I went through Summer's outgrown clothes and found these cute Halloween pajamas and thought maybe Zane could wear them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is Summer at 17 months</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We are excited to be enjoying Fall with the colorful leaves all around us and nice weather...because it seems winter temps are on the horizon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer anxiously awaited the arrival of the pumpkin patch on the lawn of her school. We purchased a few pumpkins large and small. One morning this week we painted them. I painted the big one and Summer painted all of the small ones. I was impressed with the face she made on one of them...but then the painting continued and the mixing of colors continued and now we have 3 pumpkins that look like a brown explosion happened near them. She related them to a piece of dark chocolate that she tried the night before for the first time. "See, they look like dark chocolate."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
So many cute ideas on Pinterest, right? Well I found these cute rice krispy treat pumpkins with mini rolos as the stem and green icing as the leaf. Summer, Mimi and I made them last night and took to her class today for a special surprise. They were a hit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Mimi is visiting from Roll Tide (as Summer would say) and it is so nice having 2 more ready and willing hands around. </div>

Little Man Zane is 7 months now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The past month has flown by. He can now: Sit unassisted and Eat puffs, mum mums, cheerios on his own. What a game changer! I can put him in his high chair with a handful of Cheerios and it is a snack and entertainment. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
He is much happier these days yet he still loves his naps at home. That swollen gum still has not produced a tooth but it isn't causing him grief. He loves big sister which is good because she wants to be his mama and she gives him zero personal space. This morning when we went to get him out of the crib she got in with him and less than 1/4 inch from his face she yells"It's BIG SISTER!" I mean, I could barely handle it as we just-woke-up, but he just smiled at her (sigh). Glad they love each other. His new thing is to sleep on his tummy. That is fine with me except he will wake up and decide that he is suffocating. I have watched him on the monitor and he can roll over but there are times when he feels that he can't and THAT is what keeps me getting up twice a night with him. If its not the teeth its the rolling over...I'm sure he will come up with something different next month. Anything to get Mama to come visit him, right?</div>

Chad and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary this week! We had an awesome dinner at Ruth's Chris and enjoyed a real adult conversation without multitasking involved. 9 years is a long time...I decided to talk about our past 9 anniversaries and uh oh, we couldn't remember years 4-8. So, I insisted on a picture and a blog entry. Now to start planning the big 10. I am thinking a beach in the Caribbean!</div>

The past 3 weeks I have been on my version of the Atkins Diet. When our friend, Lisa, came to visit she got me going as she has lost 20 lb on it and has sustained it for 4 months or so. The first 2 days were grumpy (to say it nicely) as I am a carboholic. However, I stuck with it after I immediately saw 3-4 lbs drop off. By the end of the first week I was figuring out what I could eat and I can honestly say that I feel satisfied. In the past 3 weeks I have lost 8 lb. Here is a sample of what I eat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Breakfast: Atkins Bar </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just thought I would share in case anyone is looking for a jump start to healthy eating. In time, I will reintroduce carbs back into my meals but in a natural way (sweet potatoes, corn, fruits). It has been good for me to break my addiction to bread. I didn't realize how much I ate it until I had to remind myself not to eat it.</div>

Look who learned to sit up this week! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the record, Zane is getting to be a happier baby. The past two grocery experiences I took him in his carseat (instead of the baby bjorn) and he was so content that he fell asleep (in public). He smiles all of the time. Love him so much!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4X4E0QnFg6Tgw58T5uY3gLMYg3kpv8MKAx2Ri6qkaaMaYhKQOkX4upvTmeK9H_MCzWCIKmXS9LWooIcCpC629ZTTcXCKXeSG87t63hqL3wAHdCX9qhoGANb7wA-crG09xF0Anr0o0lNOM/s1600/sitting.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4X4E0QnFg6Tgw58T5uY3gLMYg3kpv8MKAx2Ri6qkaaMaYhKQOkX4upvTmeK9H_MCzWCIKmXS9LWooIcCpC629ZTTcXCKXeSG87t63hqL3wAHdCX9qhoGANb7wA-crG09xF0Anr0o0lNOM/s320/sitting.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In addition, Zane is getting his first tooth! He has been drooling for months but he officially has a swollen gum and I pray it will pop thru the skin TONIGHT! Till that happens, we are on tylenol.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This past week we had a quick trip to Charleston to get a car. The car didn't work out but the upside is we got to spend some time with this sweet girl. Zane and Madelyn sitting in a tree... </div>

Summer went to the allergist/asthma specialist to have a skin test done to confirm the previous blood allergy test. We called it "planting a garden" on her back and turns out nothing grew! <br />

At 6 months old, <strong><u>Zane weighs 18 lb (50%) and is 27 inches tall (75%</u></strong>). He wears size 9-12 month clothes.<br />
<strong><u>He Likes:</u></strong><br />
<ul>
<li>Eating baby food that Mama makes and Baby Mum Mums-thanks Aunt Jen</li>
<li>Baby Einstein</li>
<li>Exercauser-load up all his toys then he knocks them down</li>
<li>Putting everything in his mouth</li>
<li>Routine and napping in his crib</li>
<li>Being carried in the Baby Bjorn</li>
<li>Being entertained by Big Sister or our dog, Sissy</li>
</ul>
<strong><u>He Dislikes:</u></strong><br />
<ul>
<li>Waiting for anything! meals, naps, being picked up</li>
<li>Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on Baby Einstein DVD-funny, Summer did the same thing...when he starts crying we know TTLS is on and after the scene changes he is back to smiling!</li>
<li>Not being able to nap in his crib when he is sleepy-he will fight falling asleep in any other environment.</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Basically he is just the sweetest baby at home! I eat him up everyday. He smiles and giggles. He can roll over each way and can sit up if leaning on a toy for a few seconds. </div>

3 months of training plus lots of encouragement, self confidence and perseverance brought me to the finish line last Saturday at the Asheville Citizen-Times Half Marathon! We started downtown and ran through some really nice and old neighborhoods, golf courses, university then finished back downtown. It was great to see my family at the finish line even if I did feel light headed. </div>

Folks, ha ha ha, I can't tell you how many inclines were part of this course. It was killer! I don't walk a half...I commit to running the entire race, however there were people passing me on the steep hills walking (yes, while I was still running). I said from the beginning this was about getting back in shape after having Zane and that I wasn't going to worry about my time. Well, I finished 40 minutes longer than my previous half marathon which given the course I still am content with. Next race is in the works!</div>

Remember this sweet picture from Summer's first day of preschool a few weeks ago...</div>

Well, yesterday, Summer gave herself a haircut! A full-on mullet. If you think this picture doesn't look bad, it is because I had just wet it and tried parting her hair on the other side...one side was worse than the other. Plus, in this picture her "new bangs" are to the side-oh nelly, you don't want to see them hanging down! She said she didn't know cutting her hair was bad...now she knows. Mama wanted to cry but held it back so that I wouldn't give her a complex but oh it was heartbreaking. Only hair, I know, but still heartbreaking. With my heart pounding I went into recovery mode...how are we gonna make this cute again. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took me a few hours of looking at her to realize that there wasn't any way to keep the hair the way it was. The front was just way too short compared to the back so I cut her a cute little BOB. And, wouldn't you know it...she is back to adorable again! A little too mature for her age, but stylish. That's what Moms are for...save the day!</div>
