Happy Thanksgiving

I am thankful for so many things. My Mom and Larry are out visiting Chad and I for Thanksgiving week. Chad and Larry were able to go skiing/snowboarding. Mom and I got a mani/pedi and put up the Christmas Tree! (sidenote: I like to put up the Christmas tree early, really early some years)

Today I am thankful that my mom is washing dishes and preparing casseroles.
I am thankful that we have enough food to eat and a safe place to live.
I am very thankful that God has blessed Chad and I with a baby to come and that each day he is overseeing his/her growth.
I am thankful that I have a loving family (all of you) and great friends (you reading...even if I don't know you read...thanks for caring).
I am thankful for my families health and safety and for God who watches over us every moment.
And the list could go on and on about things in our community and country but I will keep it personal instead.
Here is our delicious meal...

And our Christmas Tree...

And our dogs (not very photogenic) who provide so much unconditional love to us...
I hope you have had a great day and will be able to enjoy a nap with a full tummy!

Baking Party

Saturday my friends Lisa and Rachel came over for a baking party. We had brunch together then started baking. It was a really fun time and we ended up with lots of yummy treats and some to freeze for baking later.
We enjoyed chicken salad on croissants and sausage & cheese pinwheels (oh so good).

Rachel made M&M cookies and Sugar Cookie Dough.

Lisa made Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, 2 Apple Pies made with her Grandma's pie shell recipe AND 2 berry crisps! Nice lattice (sp?) work!

This is the Berry Crisp before the top "crisp" layer was added.

I also made Glazed Lemon Cookies but somehow forgot to take a picture.
It was great fun!
Thanks to Chad for giving us our Girl Time. He celebrated Matt's Birthday by going to the UNR vs. Boise State football game...I don't think he minded getting out of the house.

Happy Birthday to Chad's mom, Susan! Hope you had a great day and some baked goodies of your own!

Friday Update

This post is for you who check in daily but are disappointed when there isn't an update. I have been hit with major fatigue this week. The past couple of days I haven't been able to sneak in a nap and therefore I have found my head hitting the pillow as early as 6:30pm! It is nice to be able to do this...I don't know how people manage pregnancy fatigue with a second child!
Today I made a Pot Roast in the crock pot...mmm good! I included carrots, yukon potatoes, onion and the end result was delicious, served with warm flaky biscuits. Even Chad, who doesn't like carrots, thought the veggies were flavorful.
Finally, I just want to praise on my sweet dog Lucy. She is so dedicated to my every move that she even sleeps in the bathroom on the bathmat...waiting to be pet as I get up every 3 hours in the night. And even now, when I can't sleep for trying to convince Nicole to become a personal chef, she is here beside me at the computer. God definetly has a purpose with dogs. Unconditional Love! So I will leave you with a quick picture of my Lucy this early morning.

And I can't leave Sampson out. Here he is sleeping in his bedroom...on his dog sheets.

Happy Friday!

10 Weeks

So far being pregnant I haven't suffered from morning sickness, thank goodness! However I have found that I am dreaming about food. This week alone I have dreamt about a biscuits with jelly, a baked potato and chocolate cake. I can tell you that these dreams are becoming reality. I am actually eating my dreams!
Grocery shopping can be scatterbrained as some things are a big turn off and others are a MUST. This week I was obsessed with chocolate cake. I bought it early in the week but decided not to bake it until Saturday when I knew I would have the entire day to enjoy it and eat at my leisure. Ahhh...moist and fluffy cake!
And I figured we would celebrate the Baby with this cake...Happy 10 Weeks

Leslie's Trip

With all the baby news I didn't mean to leave out the priceless visit from my great friend Leslie!
We dined at Reno's only Meat 'n Three (kind of) and loaded up on fried okra, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, delicious coleslaw (I really loved it) and turnip greens! Oh, and Leslie had sweet tea and I had Kool-Aid (seriously they serve that).

We pampered ourselves with a manicure and pedicure.

We took a tour of Tahoe and got a taste of SNOW!

Here we stopped at Mt. Rose to capture a picture in the snow.
When we got back from our Tahoe trip we realized we had left Sampson outside and he was freezing. We wrapped him in a warm blanket and he proudly paraded around the house.
Leslie we are glad to came to visit!
